๐Ÿ— April 2026 โ€“ Development Update

April has been a major month for visual development at Seven Castles Games, with the illustration process moving forward in a way that is genuinely exciting. The artwork is coming together beautifully, and the level of detail, atmosphere, and consistency is already receiving great feedback across the team.

๐ŸŽจ Illustration Progress

We are now deep intoย Phase โ€“ Illustration Foundation, and the results are looking fantastic. The art team is establishing the visual identity of Steam Cities with strong direction, thoughtful detail, and a clear sense of world-building that will support the Kickstarter pre-campaign.

Several key assets are now complete, including theย Box Art,ย City Mat, andย Captain Card, while other core pieces are in progress or queued for development. This foundation is essential, because these visuals will shape how players first experience the game and how the project presents itself to new supporters.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Phase Status

The current illustration pipeline includes a mix of completed, in-progress, and upcoming assets. This is helping the team build out a cohesive visual language across the box, board, and cards.

  • Completed:ย Box Art, City Mat, Captain Card, Minister Card.
  • In progress:ย Hero visuals and key components for the Kickstarter-facing materials.
  • Not started yet:ย Triple Hex tiles, Combat Card, Event Card, and Law Card artwork.

This work is laying the groundwork for a strong and memorable first impression, and it is clear that the illustration direction is becoming one of the projectโ€™s biggest strengths.

๐Ÿš€ Toward Kickstarter

As we move closer to the Kickstarter pre-campaign, the illustration work is doing exactly what it should: making the world of Steam Cities feel more alive, more distinctive, and more compelling. The feedback so far has been extremely positive, with particular praise for the attention to detail and the overall quality of the art.

We are especially encouraged by how well the artwork is supporting the gameโ€™s identity. Each new piece is helping reinforce the tone, setting, and personality of the project, bringing us one step closer to a campaign presentation that feels polished and ready to impress.

โš™ Where We Stand

  • Illustration production is progressing well across Phase Illustration Foundation.
  • Core visual assets are already completed and looking excellent.
  • The team is receiving strong feedback on art quality and detail.
  • The project is moving steadily toward the Kickstarter pre-campaign.

Steam Cities is not just advancing visually it is starting to look like a world players will want to step into.
